Delhi Common Wealth Games Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi reaches Nagaland

KOHIMA, 25 July 2010: The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi has reached the capital of Nagaland, Kohima, after completing its journey to Arunachal Pradesh. In Kohima yesterday, the baton visited Naga Heritage Village, Kisama; World War II Museum and State Museum.

The baton also visited the Circuit House Cathedral for a photo opportunity. From there the baton proceeded onwards via New Minister Hill Jail and converged at PHQ Junction from where the relay mode began. The relay passed through the entire town stopping briefly for a photo session at the WWII Cemetery where the baton was received by Shri K. Kire, DGP, Nagaland. From there , it continued via TCP Gate and Razhu Point before reaching Local Ground and entering through Kuochiezie (south gate) where it was received by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri Neiphiu Rio as the final Batonbearer for the day.

After the welcome ceremony, the relay was flagged off for Tuophema. On the way, there was a tree plantation drive undertaken at Capt. Kenguruse Memorial and then the baton moved towards Tuophema where it was received at the village gate by Tuophema Village Council. The convoy then moved to Dawho where a cultural extravaganza was organised.

At Tourist Resort, Tuophema an evening cultural celebration was organised. Shri Doshehe Y. Sema, Hon. Minister, Power & Election, Nagaland hosted dinner in baton’s honour.
