It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi and to thank you for being our partner in spreading the beautiful message of Olympic sport and in fostering goodwill among the nations and territories of the Commonwealth.
Over the next few days, the best athletes from the nations and territories of the Commonwealth will showcase their talent and competitive skills in 17 disciplines in venues that have been designed to bring out the best in them. You will see the pursuit of excellence and share the agony and ecstasy of human endeavour.
At the Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, we realise the importance of the media in spreading the gospel of Olympic and Commonwealth sport and we have done our best to ensure that you will have facilities to ensure that you can comfortably report the Games.
This is the biggest Commonwealth Games to date and we believe we can make it the best ever with athletes, officials, media, VIPs and spectators enjoying the best hospitality and security management. As a distinguished member of the Commonwealth Games family, you can be a part of the special event in the history of a remarkable nation.

MESSAGE FROM COMMONWEALTH GAMES FEDERATION PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Commonwealth Games Federation and the athletes of the Commonwealth I welcome you all to Delhi and to the XIX Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games holds a unique place in the sporting world and represents the most visible manifestation of the Commonwealth in action, in Delhi we will see approximately 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 Nations and Territories competing across an exciting 17 sport programme between October 3 – 14, 2010. Representing two billion people the athletes of the Commonwealth will enjoy a unique experience in Delhi with its rich culture and heritage blended with first-class sporting facilities. The Commonwealth Games brings together the many faiths, races, cultures and traditions from Africa, the Americas, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Oceania uniting the Commonwealth through sport.
I welcome all members of the media to share in our celebrations as the Commonwealth’s most populist nation hosts the Games, you undertake the important role of reporting the Games across the Commonwealth. You will enjoy first-class facilities, witness memorable competitions, record world, regional and national records and tell many a story of human endeavour both on and off the field of play thus capturing and reported on the friendly Games into millions of homes across the Commonwealth.
